WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE?

TWO MONTHS OF COOL SWIMMING OR THREE MONTHS+ OF WARM
SWIMMING?

Consider these examples...

Sackville, NS... a 16X38 in-ground, reached 85F in early June, '09:  with seven, 4X12 Techno Solis panels and an auto control system (25X44 pool)

A Hammonds Plains install reports "Great" performance,
recording a 16F degree boost over two sunny days!"
...& up to 80F early June '10

And, from the owner of an 1100 sq. ft. pool in Antigonish:

"Very happy with everything and the quality of the product far exceeds anything I have seen out there."

Tantallon, NS owner of 10 yr. old Techno-Solis system:
"...continues to perform without maintenance or problems - very happy with this system."

Dartmouth, NS
Lantz, NS
June 10, 2010 and this pool is already at 80F Hammonds Plains, NS. One year later to the day, pool at 77F after month of rainy weather. NOTE: Simple plans available for ground mount framing.

IS THERE A DOWNSIDE TO SOLAR POOL HEATING?  YES!

Keeping your pool warmer longer, will lead to more social activity around your home, leading to added costs for food, drinks, etc. Pool parties will become the norm, creating the need to maintain stocks of popular social consumptions.  Invariably, if you have children, you can expect MORE children to show up, especially new friends. Wear and tear on pool toys, accessories,  more water use to clean towels,  ....you get the idea.

Combined Systems:
Pool & Home Heating

Note that although this page features the Techno-Solis system, pools can also be heated using evacuated tube or flat plate collectors as part of a total-home, solar heating system.

For example, if solar is being used for in-floor heating, we can expand the existing or design a new system to include a pool.  This is a particularly efficient use of solar where you now have high heat demand in the summer and the winter, thereby adding to a more balanced system and better use of your solar investment.

Competitor's panels gone bad and NO warranty for replacement! Is this how your panels ended?

Many types of homes will accommodate the Techno-Solis panels.
Where space is available, ground mounts can make for an efficient installation.

HOW IT WORKS

1. After leaving the filter, the pump moves the water to the solar collectors. Cooler, pool water enters the collectors from the bottom. The water is only directed to the solar panels if the temperature of the panels is higher than that of the pool and below the temp set at the controller

2. The water is heated as it flows upwards through the collector tubes to the top header pipe. If the pool water has already reached the set temperature, the controller will not direct water to the solar panels.

3.
The warm water is then returned to your pool. If a heater is already in place, the solar panels will act as a pre-heat for the pool water.

4. This process continues until the desired water temperature is reached.  Pool temperatures of 85-90F can be expected

Repair kits are NOT available for Techno-Solis systems. They're not needed!

Best quality materials throughout including stainless and UV resistant rubber fittings and panels.
solar panel for pools
Panels come in 4'X8', 4'X10', 4'X12' and are made of welded polypropylene with UV stabilizers. Panels weigh from 19 to 29 lbs. dry and from 44 to 64 lbs loaded - a max of 1.3lb/sq.ft - easily carried by any roof.
Collector panel cross-section: the smaller channels allow for more rapid heating. Note the welded seam - tested to 95psi on all panels.
